On January 5, 1945 in San Antonio, TX a baby girl was born to Robbie Mae Sutton and Chester Phillips whom the named Elnora Phillips. As a child Elnora would later move to Brenham, TX where she attended school at the Brenham Independent School District. She would later move to Houston, TX as a young adult in the 1960’s. Elnora had a true heart and love for music which she displayed at every chance she got. As a hobby she would DJ for more than 20 years traveling throughout Houston and beyond. She loved to talk and laugh with anyone she met and was a person who never met a stranger. Anyone who knew her knew that she loved crossword puzzles, western movies, and detective shows. Elnora was known for her kind spirit, beautiful soul, and captivating smile.
Elnora was preceded in death by her parents, son Mark Sykes, and grandson Michael (Dooda) Sykes Jr.
She leaves to cherish the most precious memories; one son Michael Sykes; one daughter Mary Phillips both of Houston, TX, grandchildren Samantha Galvan (Humberto); Charlotte Phillips; Robert Phillips; Shamikka Sykes; Shanikka Sykes; Marquise Sykes (Deleatra); Mark Sykes; Farrell Esta; and Lyric Sykes; a host of great-grandchildren, family and friends.
